Victus Aeternitate
"Living in eternity"— Feet on the earth, citizenship in the heavenlies
space," more appropriately should be
called "the heavens."
C.S. Lewis, from Out of the Silent Planet (paraphrased)
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ . . ." Ephesians 1:3
"By faith . . . he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God."
Hebrews 11:8-10 (conflated)

The "Word of the Day" & "Ellen, My Melon!"
Years ago, I found an interesting, very inexpensive wooden photo frame in the shape of a squatty-looking watermelon, painted to look like the same, with an an opening for what seemed to demand a very tight, close up facial photo. I knew exactly which photo was suited for this frame, which, as you can see is one of my daughter Ellen, then four.

Michael's 14th Birthday!
Michael's names are rich with meaning, as is he. His first name, Michael, means (from three Hebrew words: Mi, Ka, and El) of course, "Who is like God (Elohim)?" Benjamin is also Hebrew-based, meaning "Son of my right hand." And, while most of us don't have four names, it seemed appropriate not only to honor Michael's maternal grandmother, Sarah, via her maiden name Paschal, it also helps complete a significant part of the "story" of his entire multi-parted name. You see, "Paschal" also derives from the Hebrew word "Pesach," meaning "passover."
Concluding with Michael's surname, Wermuth—coming from German roots and meaning "wormwood" (one of the bitterest herbs)—his entire name actually carries a Gospel message! For, who is like God, except the Son of His right hand (Jesus Christ), who was and is the One who, as the "Paschal Lamb," has become our Passover—His blood for ours, offered far beyond the "wormwood and the gall"—dying for our sins, yet being raised up again for our eternal life!
As he already has—even at (only) 14—Michael will continue to experience many changes in his life. My confidence and encouragement is in knowing that as we are "sons" of the heavenly Father, Michael is his earthly Dad's son, and always will be. He is a "covenant" child in God's sovereignly administered kingdom. I love him very much and pray and entrust him to God for His best for him.
Death's dark angel sheathes his sword;
Israel's hosts triumphant go
Through the wave that drowns the foe.
Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed,
Paschal Victim, Paschal Bread;
With sincerity and love
Eat we manna from above.

"We'll Miss You, Kitty!" (4-1-90 — 9-19-08)
We have great memories from the many pictures we took and, although we'll probably get another pet (cat or dog . . . or both), we also know that Kitty obviously will be irreplaceable.

As recorded on Valley of Vision
Lyrics
When You lead me to the valley of vision
I can see You in the heights
And though my humbling wouldn’t be my decision
It’s here Your glory shines so bright
So let me learn that the cross precedes the crown
To be low is to be high
That the valley’s where You make me more like Christ
Chorus:
Let me find Your grace in the valley
Let me find Your life in my death
Let me find Your joy in my sorrow
Your wealth in my need
That You’re near with every breath
In the valley
In the daytime there are stars in the heavens
But they only shine at night
And the deeper that I go into darkness
The more I see their radiant light
So let me learn that my losses are my gain
To be broken is to heal
That the valley’s where Your power is revealed

"Take a Lamb"
Jamie Soles
LyricsTake a lamb, lead a spotless lamb to the slaughter
For the sake of yourselves, your sons and your daughters
Put the blood on the doorposts and the lintel of your house
When the angel comes he will see and pass over
Chorus:
Take a lamb, lead a spotless lamb to the slaughter
For the sake of yourselves, your sons and your daughters
Put the blood on the doorposts and the lintel of your house
When the angel comes he will see and pass over
The blood will be to Me a sign
That all within the house are Mine
Those who eat the lamb are delivered from My Hand
I will take them to the land that I have promised
Chorus:
Take a lamb, lead a spotless lamb to the slaughter
For the sake of yourselves, your sons and your daughters
Put the blood on the doorposts and the lintel of your house
When the angel comes he will see and pass over
You shall remember this day
As an evermore memorial to Me
You shall keep the feast, from the greatest to the least
You shall take and eat, remember and believe
Chorus:
Take a lamb, lead a spotless lamb to the slaughter
For the sake of yourselves, your sons and your daughters
Put the blood on the doorposts and the lintel of your house
When the angel comes he will see and pass over

LYRICS
Every harsh word spoken
Every promise ever broken to me
Total recall of data in the memory
Every tear that has washed my face
Every moment of disgrace that I have known
Every time I've ever felt alone
Chorus:
Lord of the here and now
Lord of the come what may
I want to believe somehow
That you can heal these wounds of yesterday
(You can redeem these things so far away)
So now I'm asking you
To do what you want to do
Be the Lord of the Past
(Be the Lord of my Past)
Oh how I want you to
Be the Lord of the Past
All the chances I let slip by
All the dreams that I let die in vain
Afraid of failure and afraid of pain
Every tear that has washed my face
Every moment of disgrace that I have known
Every time I've ever felt alone
Well I picked up all these pieces
And I built a strong deception
And I locked myself inside of it
For my own protection
And I sit alone inside myself
And curse my company
For this thing that has kept me alive for so long
Is now killing me.
And as sure as the sin rose this morning,
The man in the moon hides his face tonight.
And I lay myself down on my bed
And I pray this prayer inside my head
Lord of the here and now
Lord of the come what may
I want to believe somehow
That you can heal these wounds of yesterday
So now I'm asking you
To do what you want to do
Be the Lord of my Past
You can do anything
Be the Lord of the Past
I know that you can find a way
To heal every yesterday of my life
Be the Lord of the Past

LAMB
Lyrics
The heart of the Jew is Jerusalem
The Messiah his only King
And when in the soul of the Jew He reigns
Peace to the city He brings
Chorus:
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ho-Shem A-do-nai
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ha-Shem A-do-nai
Behold the Son of Abraham,
Sent by God our people to redeem
When He came forth from Bethlehem
I heard the angels sing
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ho-Shem A-do-nai
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ha-Shem A-do-nai
Bless His Name for His Name is good
Yeshua ha Mashiach is the Name I love
Bless His Name for His Name is good
Sanctified us by His blood
Now we drink His wine of joy
Filled with the Spirit of Adonai
United in the love Messiah brings
Now we sing to Elohim
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ho-Shem A-do-nai
Ba-ruch ha-Shem ha-Ma-shi-ach, Yeshua
Ba-ruch ha-Shem A-do-nai......
Hebrew translation: (Sing this chorus along with the Hebrew.
It works!)
Bless-ed is the name of (the) Mess-i-ah Je-sus (Yeshua)
Bless-ed is the name of the Lord. (Adonai)
